Just wanted to pop my review in here real quick since now I’ve been using this stuff for a few months! Bought this stuff for my first canister filter to go alongside some extra filter pads and the ceramic rings + bio balls that come with the canister. Put it on the very top with the starter balls, and in no time the filter was going strong and processing the ammonia I was dosing. By the time I was done cycling, I was able to easily add in a rather large bio-load without any crashes or strain. Will definitely be getting more soon when I switch another tank over to a canister 🙂

I have been using Seachem Matrix in my 150 gallon heavy stocked freshwater aquarium for awhile. Matrix is good product. But after discovering Biohome Ultimate and researching online and watching hours of video. I decided to give it a try. My guess is that it would perform at least as good as Matrix. I was wrong. My water chemistry with Matrix was good. No Ammonia, no nitrites, but I would always have around 30-40 Nitrates. Of course it goes down after water changes, but it would eventually creep up to 30-40 ppm by the end of the week. Now the surprising part, after using Ultimate Biohome, I noticed my Nitrates wouldn’t climb higher than 20 ppm. Amazing stuff. Now in all of my other filters I use Ultimate Biohome. I highly recommend this product.

Waited to write my Review until I gave it a bit of time so here it is. Ordered 1 Kg of the Ultimate and some course, medium and fine foam on 1/15/18 received at door 1/18/18 WOW!!! New tank set-up for 1 week but I wanted this in my canister filter regardless if I restarted the cycle. Into the garbage went some of the junk that came with the filter (plastic balls and ceramic rings). Put 1/2 tray of that junk before my fine foam I bought to keep some bacteria if any was there. 2 full trays of Biohome so tank cycles roughly 4 weeks no fish, no chemicals besides Ammonia to feed the bacteria. I had Nitrates at 20 PPM at the spike of Nitrates for about 4 days and 0 PPM since. Already shared this information with a friend, he ordered some and the same results his Nitrate dropped. in just 1 week. I will never use another product again Biohome you got it right thank you!!! Additionally, my Cichlids say Thank you!

After reading reviews and watching YouTube video of this filter media I decided to take the plunge and order some for my newly refurbished 60 gallon tank and my daughters 15 Fluval Flex. I purchased the recommended amount for my Sun Sun 304b and 1kg extra to throw some in the Flex for a total of 5kg. I was a bit annoyed at first that I had to sign for the media when it was delivered and I’m lucky I was home at the time, however…. After reading the message that came along with the media and the reason why I couldn’t agree more and totally appreciate and understand why.
My tap water has a natural Nitrate of about 10 PPM and in my 60 Gallon has been running much HIGHER 80-100 than that because I re-used old substrate that probably should have been thrown out. After using BIOHOME it has dropped down to about 10-15 PPM and that is only after a month and I know it takes much longer for the proper bacteria to be fully established to fight Nitrates… so I am very happy. My only complaint is that after putting BIOHOME in my daughters 15 Gallon planted tank all of her parameters have read zero across the board after a month so her water quality is always better than mine…. lol Thank you for the great customer service and letter added documentation and letter and thank you for the great product. I could not be happier and will be buy more product soon after I saw the shower filter that I intend to buy for my next project and populate with this wonderful media!
