Description

The name says it all. Biohome Ultimate Media is the ultimate media for canister, HOB and sump filters.

1 kg occupies about 72 cu in. To see how much your filter requires return to the Home page and click on the link at the top, “How Much Do I Need”.

Biohome Ultimate is identical to Mini with the addition of trace elements, including iron and maganese, to support beneficial bacteria growth. Bacteria growth in Ultimate is very fast to control ammonia and nitrite.

Complimentary Filter Starter Balls (1/4 bag per kg)  are shipped with each order to speed filter maturity. It recovers quickly after the use of medications.

Biohome allows both nitrifying (aerobic) and denitrifying (anaerobic) bacteria to grow on and through it’s unique structure. This allows it to also control nitrates. Check the Rules of Thumb for Nitrate Reduction to estimate how much you’ll need to reduce the nitrates in your pond or tank.

Ultimate Media is a biological filter media and good mechanical filtration must be provided to insure the water passing through it does not contain any debris that might clog it.

    Biohome is brings aquarium filtration into the modern times as it does such a wonderful job and can last up to 15 years. All the other biological filtration needs to be replaced much more often. I have a 150, 125, 3 75 gallons, a 90 and 2 40,s. Biohome keeps the water sparkling, almost clean enough to drink.
    Love using Biohome, will be well worth your money and make be a fish keeper much more pleasurable!

    Thank you so much Don.. despite USPS messing up big time and losing the shipment for about 1.5 weeks, I finally got my media and foam today. The box was in a horrendous state but everything inside was intact.

    I’m looking forward to even better water parameters now that I have this media installed.

    Took out the chemical media from the Fluval 207 canister and replaced it completely with Biohome Ultimate media. Left my existing biological media alone until the new media is seeded fully. Placed the rest in an HOB with existing biological media.

    The canister is fairly new so I was getting it established with the help of the existing HOB.

    In about 6 weeks I’ll be ditching the HOB to have a less cluttered tank.

    Thanks again Don for excellent customer service and communication, and kick-starting USPS so that they found the shipment.

    Highly recommended.

    I ordered ultimate bio media from this site. Had some questions and Don was totally awesome and patient with me on the phone . My order was expedited promptly and Don personally followed up with me to make sure all my packages arrived. Top notch customer service. I am runner 9 fish tanks and on my Oscar 120 gallon tank I adapted a drip system filter 12 compartments with the new media for biological and 6 on top row for mechanical. I’m excited to see the result it brings me in about a month.

    I just received 3 Kgs of Biohome Ultimate for my Fluval FX4 filter. This is what Richard (The Pond Guru) said would approximately fix in the FX4. Also looking on this website the suggested manufacture amount was approximately 2.3Kgs. Well after neatly stacking it in both trays I have to say I’m beyond impressed because I used all 3 kgs of ultimate and it would have held about 3.5 kgs even with a fine polishing foam filter on top!! I have a new 45 gallon aquarium and I’m excited to see what my water parameters are in 4-6 months after the denitrifying bacteria become established in the aquarium. I have some mid sized goldfish in it currently and I plan on testing this product to the max!! Thanks Don for delivering this product to me so quickly! I’m already a big fan of Biohome!

      Thanks for the feedback. We certainly appreciate it. I think you misread our capacity table for the FX4. The Fluval 406/7 holds 2.3 kgs. We also show the FX4 holding 3 kgs. That should be just right for your tank.
      It’s certainly possible you could get more in by stacking it neatly. We don’t recommend that because we’d like you to rinse it off to remove anything that might have gotten through the mechanical filtration and I suspect it would get a little old stacking it neatly after a couple of times.
