I wish I had found your website sooner. I have been using montmorillonite for a while now and can vouch for the fast, visible positive results. But I have been paying too much! You have the best prices I have seen, by far. So I will definitely be a montmorillonite customer next time I need more. It is awesome stuff. It has a lot of uses beyond fish but I’ll stick to “fish talk” here. lol. Montmorillonite makes for happy fish, I really believe that and that makes for a happy fish keeper!

      Jeffery,
Well, I’m glad you found us now. Thanks for the feedback. There is quite a bit of information out there about the advantages of using Montmorillonite Clay, so it’s a surprise how few people use it. It’s not that expensive to use, since it takes so little, but we’re glad you like our low prices. We’ve always tried to provide superior products at the lowest possible price by eliminating fancy packaging and not spending on advertising. We depend on word of mouth like your comments, so we really appreciate you taking the time to comment.
      Happy Fish Keeping,
      Don

After doing some research on the use of Montmorillonite Clay for fish and shrimp, I decided to give it a try in my aquariums. Weekly supplementation at water changes using just a pinch in the smaller tanks, 1/8 TSP in my 20 gallon Amano shrimp tank, and 1/2 TSP in my 75 gallon freshwater community tank I have noticed considerable improvement in water clarity, fish color, and plant growth. I have Bettas, Cardinal Tetras, Black Neon Tetras, Phantom Tetras, Golden White Cloud Minnows, Harlequinn Rasboras, Red Cherry Barbs, and Sunset Gouramis. The Amano shrimp are molting regularly as a result of the essential minerals provided by the clay. I am very pleased with the high quality and overall benefits of the Montmorillonite Clay made available by Don at GreatWave Engineering. I highly recommend this product for “Happy Fish and Shrimp Keeping!”

I hadn’t ever heard of Montmorillonite Clay before seeing it here. After researching it for a bit, I figured why not. I have a 55 gallon and it says to add 1-tbsp for every 1000 gallons once a week. It roughly ratios down to 1/4-tsp to my 55 gallons (tiny bit higher, if you have 45 gallon or less, use 1/8-tsp). Within a week a started noticing a difference in the colors of my fish. I have guppies, dwarf gouramis, angelfish, tetras, and danios. Their colors darkened and became so much more vibrant; if there was multiple colors on the fish, there was a greater contrast between them so they stood out so much more. Its now been about 3 weeks and it has kept improving. One of my most favorite guppies colors improved so much it catch’s everyone’s eye. For me there were no adverse effects, everything remained the same (PH, nitrates, nitrites, etc). The only thing (which is expected) is that it made the aquarium cloudy for a few hours (I just do it at night now and it’s clear by morning). I ordered the 500-gram package and at using a 1/4-tsp once a week, it is going to last forever. I highly recommend this product.

JB, Another very interesting comment. I add the clay to my koi pond hoping it’s helping, but had not witnessed a dramatic change like you report. Very glad to hear it’s working so well. Happy Fish Keeping! Don
