Hey Don,
Decided to try biohome correctly and I have to say that I am amazed! I stacked them pieces into my fx and was capable of getting all 3kg with room. I added your sponges with a dash of your clay, water is clear! Prior to your stuff (biohome, clay, and sponges) I could only get water this clear using a combination of chemicals, resins, and carbon. I have also noticed that my tank glass is a lot cleaner and don’t have to perform regular water changes as parameters are staying in line. On a side note, my cichlids appear to have colored-up with the clay. Win/win. Will be needing more clay. Will probably need more foam for my daughter’s tank (spec-16) what do you recommend???

I have spent a fortune on this stuff (nearly $300) for 2 eheim 2217’s, one pro 4+ 600, and a 2260, but let me tell you, this stuff is the real deal. Reality meets the hype. Nitrate / Nitrite is ZERO using this media. Using for African cichlids. Two tanks @ 235 gallons in total. Fish keeper for 30+ years. I will be using this for the rest of my life on planet earth. Worth every penny.

Jeff, I started reading and thought Hoh, oh, this doesn’t sound good, but continued reading and was pleasantly surprised at the great review. I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised. Great product and even better company to do business with. Absolutely not a single complaint. Glad I could support Don at Great Wave Engineering and in tun Richard at https://filterpro.co.uk/ . I know a lot of people like to complain about the price of the biohome products and many will say “do this…” or “use this, it’s just as good”. SOME of it very may be, but I also count part of the cost as a way to support great local economies and people associated with biohome. It’s not just buying filter media, it’s supporting great people that had a hand in producing and distributing a very good product. No different than paying a little more for locally raised produce, eggs, or even meat at a farmers market… or supporting a small business in your community instead of saving a few bucks on amazon (if you even save money). I just referred someone here (from a FB fishkeepers group) that said they spent $100 for a 5lb bag of biohome ultimate on amazon… literally twice the price than Great Wave… buy here and feel good about your purchase!
