SuperBioGravel is Not BioGravel. It’s a great media, but much larger than BioGravel.

SuperBioGravel Media is gaining a large number of adherents for its outstanding characteristics that makes it a great choice for a wide variety of filters. Like BioGravel, SuperBioGravel is an extremely dense media. You can pack a larger volume of media into any given space because of its spherical shape.

This media  works well in:

  • Showers

  • Canisters

  • Sumps

1 kg occupies between 57 and 70 cu in depending on your filter size. The balls range in size from about 3/8″ to 1″. Click on the link, “How Much Do I Need” to see how much your filter requires

Like all Biohome media it has a extremely porous structure to better support  a large number beneficial bacteria. Complimentary Filter Starter Balls (1/4 Bag per Kilogram) are shipped with each order.

Biohome allows both nitrifying (aerobic) and denitrifying (anaerobic) bacteria to grow on and through it’s unique structure. This allows it to also control nitrates. Check the Rules of Thumb for Nitrate Reduction to estimate how much you’ll need to reduce the nitrates in your pond or tank.

SuperBioGravel is a biological filter media and good mechanical filtration must be provided to insure the water passing through it does not contain any debris that might clog it.

    These large bio gravels work great in my sump for my goldfish tank. They are very porous like advertised (kind of like an air stone but the grains are larger) Much better than plastic or ceramic rings.

    I am using this product on a 180 gallon goldfish tank stocked with 12 goldfish and a large common pleco. I previously had eight 2”-5” goldfish in a 45 gallon aquarium with a fluval Fx4 filter on it with 3kg of Biohome ultimate, pimped out just like the YouTube videos from Richard/The Pond Guru. After 2 month I reached and maintained complete filtration in the tank! Now that my fish have a larger tank I wanted to get another filter so I now have the FX6 along with my previous Fx4 on my 180 tank. I purchased 6kg of the Super bio gravel because although it may not be Biohome ultimate, it is still Biohome and Biohome trumpets any other bio media that’s been produced! The reason I went with this is because if I can get an extra Kg of media in my filter then yes please I will do that, especially as my fish grow! Don, this is my second purchase from you. Thanks so much for another awesome buying experience and a top notch quality product! I think the next Biohome needs to be Biohome ultimate in a gravel form so people with cold water tanks, predator tanks or tanks with heavy bio loads can get as much Biohome as possible in their filters!
