Description

Biohome Ultra Media is a large media and has a  extremely porous structure.  It allows both nitrifying (aerobic) and denitrifying (anaerobic) bacteria to grow on and through it’s unique structure.  We recommend a low flow rate to provide maximum contact time.

Biohome Ultra Media is designed for use in trickle tower, shower filters and sumps. 

1 kg occupies between 79 and 82 cu in depending on your filter size. To see how much your filter requires return to the Home page and click on the link at the top, “How Much Do I Need“.

Complimentary Filter Starter Balls (1/4 Bag per Kilogram) are shipped with each order.  The media recovers quickly after the use of medications.

Biohome allows both nitrifying (aerobic) and denitrifying (anaerobic) bacteria to grow on and through it’s unique structure. This allows it to also control nitrates. Check the Rules of Thumb for Nitrate Reduction to estimate how much you’ll need to reduce the nitrates in your pond or tank.

Ultra is a biological filter media and good mechanical filtration must be provided to insure the water passing through it does not contain any debris that might clog it.

    I bought some of this stuff about 6 months ago to go in a new tank I was setting up. When I started the tank I used an established filter from another tank to cycle it and then added a new filter with the biohome because I had read reviews and wanted to see how well it worked. I can’t attribute all the success to the biohome because there are some other factors in the tank that are different from any other tank I have run, but I can say that this is by far the easiest tank to maintain that I have ever had and I truly believe that the bihome has been part of the equation. I plan to slowly switch my other canister filters over to this media and when I set up my 210 gallon I plan on using some of it in my 40 gallon sump as well.
