Oase

OASE BioMaster Thermo 250

This filter has 3 2/3 9″x9″ approx trays and a tubular Prefilter. The Prefilter should use Coarse donut filters. It appears the stock filter comes with 45 ppi carbon impregnated donuts. That’s what we consider Fine Foam so, while the Prefilter is easily cleaned, I believe it will plug pretty quickly.

We’d suggest that once the carbon is ready for replacement you replace with a sheet of our Coarse Foam wrapped around the tube and held in place with a few tie wraps.

We recommend that you place Medium and Fine Foam filters in the bottom tray. Oase’s large blue foam filters are listed at 20 ppi which is perfect. You can cut 1/2″ off the top of these filters and then add one of our Fine Foam Filters to make the perfect secondary mechanical filter.

Based on feedback from John Graham we know the deeper trays will hold 1 kg each. Based on measurements of a photo of the filter, the smaller upper tray is 0.6 the size of the larger trays so should easily hold another 500 grams for a total of 2.5 kgs of Biohome® Ultimate or similar cylindrical media. It should hold 3 kgs of SuperBioGravel.
